Bridging the Gap between Research and Action

I'm Anamika, a professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences in the Indian institute of Technology Guwahati, India. I am also associated with Centre for Disaster Management and Research, Centre for Environment and Centre for Sustainable Water Research. I also served as a visiting faculty in the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok in 2021.

Trained in Ecological Economics, my research is interdisciplinary and focuses on sustainability transition in Global South.

My research interest includes – climate change and water security, water utilities and water pricing, ecological footprints, virtual water flow through trade and water governance including trans-boundary water governance.

Administrating as the
Dean of Students Affairs
I served as a Dean in the students' affairs office of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) from 2019 to 2023, first as the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and then stepped up as the first woman Dean of Student Affairs at IITG.
As a Dean of Students, I was responsible for the overall welfare of the students' community, ensuring their physical and mental wellbeing.
